Welcome, Friends, to the Post-Game Lodge!
With the joyous return of the National Hockey League to my fine city, I have decided to join the blogging public. I've always been passionate about hockey, and as a 14 year old, I was devastated when my team left. It's not just that the Jets were my team. I was a youngster in the Teemu Selanne era. Debatably the peak of public interest for the Original Jets. After suffering the loss of Selanne, I was crushed when the Jets packed up and flew south.
In some ways, I believe that this was the best thing possible for me.
Having no team of my own to root for anymore, I was forced to scatter my interest. Hours upon hours watching terrible streams of out of market games just to get a few looks at a player that I didn't know enough about. Reading every news piece that came through the wire. By not anchoring me to a team for 15 years, I was forced to look at the game with little-to-no specific bias. I won't lie, I had adopted the Canadiens in absentia.
I won't sit here and tell you I'm the most knowledgable. I'm far from it. And I will never claim to be an expert - at least not until Bob McKenzie or Darren Dreger anoint me as such. What I am is decently knowledgable with what I think is a strangely engaging, partially egotistical quirky storytelling style.
What you can expect here is, first and foremost, Post-Game Analysis and Player Grades after Jets games. Barring unforseens, I intend on having Grades up by the morning after games. Past that, there's still a lot of hockey stories going on. News, rumours, the occasional humour piece or open letter.
I am entirely open to constructive criticism. Feel free to e-mail or comment it. I truly mean it, I want to be the best blog on the net, and I won't get there by being 'yessed' to death.
Thanks for looking around,
The Intoxicating Coleman Slawsky
